SHADOWING

Clinical shadowing can be a life-changing opportunity for students, helping them do decide if a particular clinical field is the right career choice. Not all health professional schools require shadowing, but it is always, at least, highly recommended.

Students are generally welcome to find shadowing opportunities at WPMG. URM communities have less healthcare providers to provide mentoring or shadowing, exacerbating attempts to train health leadership professionals from these communities. Therefore, WPMG provides formal shadowing for the HCCP program as an expression of equity as one of our core values.

Hosting URM students is not a one-way street: it also deepens our clinicians’ connections to our racially-underserved communities, providing greater joy and fulfillment in our work.
